The following are the texts of the poems we will be working on throughout each week. At the end of the week, students stand and recite the poem by themselves. Please help your child memorize the poem and become a confident orator by practicing at home.
When we stand to speak, we use Orator 5--feet planted, hands at your sides, loud voice with articulate words, eye contact with our audience, and ears listening (to be mindful of any mistakes we make)
HOT CROSS BUNS
Hot cross buns!
Hot cross buns!
One a penny, two a penny,
Hot cross buns!
If you have no daughters,
Give them to your sons;
One a penny, two a penny,
Hot cross buns!
HICKORY, DICKORY, DOC
Hickory, dickory, doc,
The mouse ran up the clock.
The clock struck one,
The mouse ran down!
Hickory, dickory, doc.
LITTLE MISS MUFFET
Little Miss Muffet
Sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey;
Along came a spider,
What sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet away.
JACK BE NIMBLE
Jack be nimble
Jack be quick
Jack jump over the candlestick
Jack jump high
Jack jump low
Jack jumped over a burned his toe!
LITTLE BO PEEP
Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep,
And can't tell where to find them;
Leave them alone and they'll come home,
Wagging their tails behind them.
